1) Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) applies to the TorontoBytes® website, client portals, and any managed digital services we provide (the Services). It forms part of our Terms & Conditions and should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

2) Principles of acceptable use

  • Lawful: obey applicable laws (including PIPEDA and CASL in Canada, and relevant UK/EU rules).
  • Respectful: do not harm, harass, mislead, or infringe rights.
  • Secure: protect credentials, devices, and data; use MFA where supported.
  • Platform-compliant: follow advertising and platform policies (Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, etc.).

3) Prohibited activities

  • Unauthorised access, vulnerability scanning, or bypassing technical controls.
  • Distributing malware, exploits, DDoS traffic, or malicious automation.
  • Credential stuffing, brute force, or session hijacking.
  • Hosting or transmitting unlawful, infringing, deceptive, or harmful content.
  • Sharing personal data without a lawful basis or valid consent.
  • Activities that breach ad-network or marketplace policies, or cause account penalties.

4) Security & integrity

Use strong passwords and keep credentials confidential. Notify us promptly about suspected compromise or vulnerabilities. Responsible disclosures are welcome at hello@torontobytes.com.

5) Content standards

You are responsible for the information, creatives, and data you provide. Ensure you have rights to use any third-party assets (images, fonts, libraries) and that claims are accurate with required disclosures.

6) Fair use & rate limits

To maintain service quality for all clients, we may throttle excessive or abnormal usage (e.g., scraping, automated submissions, unusually high API request rates). Contact us if you require higher throughput.

7) Third-party tools & pixels

Where we implement analytics or marketing pixels, we do so in line with your consent settings and platform terms. See our Cookie Policy for categories and controls. Do not add third-party code that collects data without appropriate notice and consent.

8) Enforcement & suspension

We may remove content, suspend access, or terminate Services where we reasonably believe this AUP or our Terms are breached, or where required by law or platform providers. Where feasible, we will provide notice and a route to appeal.

9) Reporting abuse

Report suspected misuse or policy concerns to hello@torontobytes.com and include:

  • URLs, screenshots, and timestamps;
  • a short description of the behaviour; and
  • contact details for follow-up.

10) Changes

We may update this AUP to reflect legal, technical, or business changes. Material updates will be sign-posted on this page. The “Last updated” date above shows the latest version.

11) Governing law

This AUP is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.
